First Fruit, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of our newest Board member, Dr. Brian Fikkert. Dr. Fikkert is the Founder and President of the Chalmers Center for Economic Development at Covenant College, where he is also Professor of Economics and Community Development. Dr. Fikkert earned a Ph.D. in economics from Yale University, specializing in international economics and economic development.
He has been a consultant to the World Bank and is the author of numerous articles in both academic and popular journals. Dr. Fikkert is also co-author of the influential book, When Helping Hurts, read by more than 250,000 church and ministry leaders to-date.
Dr. Fikkert and First Fruit have enjoyed a relationship going back to the 1990s when First Fruit hosted a series of symposia on the subject of microfinance.
In the course of our long-term relationship, we have come to greatly respect his spiritual maturity and theological insights, have appreciated his deep love for the church, and have been infected by his irrepressible laughter. He has proven to be an excellent fit with our current Board, of which he is now the eighth member.
