Story
In late 2019, a local church referred a sick mother with two children ages 3 and 9, who had been cared for by their grandparents. The family was poor, and the children were not receiving adequate support. Both children had chronic health problems with one child experiencing language delay, requiring regular health treatment at a specialized hospital in Phnom Penh. The children’s condition grew worse because the grandparents could not afford healthcare.
With the support of CIF, both children received medical treatment and extra support from our ABLE team (services for children with disabilities). As a result, the children’s health has improved and their grandmother said, “Before, it was difficult to understand Sophea when she spoke, but now, she is speaking more clearly and saying more words. My grandchildren are healthier thanks to the medical treatment and the loving care by CIF staff. I am so happy to see them in better condition!”
