Restoring Hope’s mission is to care for orphaned and vulnerable children through the local church, assisting biological families with education and discipleship, and empowering future leaders to build healthy communities.

After recent reunification with their biological families, 700 Restoring Hope children (through the National Orphan Care Network, NOCN) are no longer taken care of by the church pastor’s family. We now need to draw the children and their families back to the church, creating a new church community so these families will come to know and follow Jesus—an essential component of our holistic restoration of orphaned and vulnerable children.

Our NOCN/Restoring Hope Summer Celebrations will be a 2-day party at the local church for families, children, social workers, and church members. This time of fun, learning, growing, and community provides the pastors an opportunity to draw in the families and begin to rebuild the church community in post-pandemic rural India. We are planning for 12 regional celebrations of 100 people each, an impactful way to reconnect and renew this community of caregivers and the church.

Story

Swaroopa’s father died in a work accident when she was a young girl. When the local Restoring Hope pastor in the village of Maddipadu heard about her situation, he invited Swaroopa into his home where she was cared for and thrived   for eight years. Now, with family reunification supported and guided by Restoring Hope, Swaroopa is back with her biological mother and brother, and she is so thankful for receiving care that is the best of all worlds (family, church, education).

Swaroopa’s story is one of the church and family working together to help give the necessary support for Swaroopa to have health, dignity, healing, and hope for her future. A future where Swaroopa intends to become a doctor of medicine.
