Bethany Fellowship International’s vision is to see unreached people groups discipled and churches established among those who have little or no access to the Gospel. Their mission statement is to take the Church to where it is not and help others do the same. For the past 14 years, Bethany’s work training Chinese missionaries has equipped the Chinese Church to be an effective tool for reaching people in countries where it’s difficult for western missionaries to go.

James and Hannah Wen were sent by the Chinese Family Church to serve Syrian refugees in Jordan and to reach out to Muslims with the Gospel. Since 2017, this Refugee Center has been serving Syrian teenagers with training in social skills, building relationships with parents, and delivering the Good News to their families.

Syrian refugee communities in Jordan live in very challenging conditions. Often, multiple families will live together in small apartments. Many of them do not leave their houses and don’t feel welcomed by the Jordanian community. For refugee teenagers, they have next to no opportunities to gather together and socialize, as life is somewhat isolated to their home.

The Az-Zarqa Refugee Center offers Syrian refugee youth the opportunity to connect with other youth in a positive, hope-filled environment where they have the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus. More than 200 teenagers are registered with the Center and there are close relationships with about 50 of them and their families.

Through this project we provide these teenagers with four day-outings per year which allow them to enjoy the beauty of creation, picnics and group games. They are able to get out of their homes to have a relaxing time together with us and with each other. Through this time we have been building close personal relationships. Wearing a uniform gives them a sense of belonging to this big family.

Every three months we have a day-long outing. Each outing costs $400, which includes transportation (for example to a national park), entrance tickets if needed, lunch, and group games. The one-time cost of uniforms will be $500 for the fifty students who attend most frequently.
